His little body trembled uncontrollably, eyes wide in horror as his innocent childlike gaze fell upon his mother's now limp form. There she lay on the cold stone floor of their home, a pool of crimson blood encircling around her head. Her body was beaten horribly, covered in bruises and scars, both of her legs and her arm broken. Kael shook his head in disbelief, tears welling up in his eyes as he tore his eyes away from the dead form of his mother, tilting his head upwards to the towering form that stood above him and his mother. His father.
It was his father, Skynx Faranoth, who had beaten his mother so many times, but this would be the last time. Kael was almost glad to see his mother die, for it meant that she no longer had to suffer the everyday beatings his father dealt without a second thought. Though it only fed to Kael's growing rage. He could feel his own anger burning deep within in, trying to escape. It was like molten lava pumping through his veins one hundred miles per minute. His rage felt so intense that at times he collapsed from it, not understanding the great power of which he held, it being too much for his small form at the time, he was only a mere seven years of age, but he had to watch his mother be beaten to death in front of his very eyes.
His blood boiling, making his head in throb with anger, he could no longer take it. A blood curdling scream was released from his lips as he yanked the dagger, he held in his boot for protection, free from his boot and ran towards the form of his father, stabbing the dagger blade at his leg in one fluid motion. Much to his dismay the blade of the dagger only barely scraped the side of his leg as his father stepped aside. Kael had hardly anytime to think before he was thrown against the hard wall by the sweeping of his father's arm into his stomach. Shaking his head as he fell back to the ground, trying to clear his thoughts, he scrambled back to his feet, trying his best to look as though he were unafraid of the monster that stood towering over him.
A vicious sneer curled at the lips of the man, his eyes a blazing inferno, his lips thirsting for blood. Heavy footsteps fell towards Kael quickly as the man wrapped his strong fingers firmly around Kael's neck, jerking him up from the ground only to slam his small form against the wall of their home. "You little brat, think you can stab with me your little toys, hm?" His son's body trembled once more, turning his head to the side, reassuring himself that he wasn't going to give his father the satisfaction of hearing him cry or scream, he remained silent. A dark chuckle sounded through the air as his father, tightened his grip on Kael's throat. "Well, let me tell you kid, try it again and you'll end up like your dear sweet mother over there, got it?"
His little cheeks burned red with rage at his father's words, tiny fingers wrapping around the hilt of the dagger that he miraculously had never dropped. Deciding it was time to get away from this life, he quickly heaved the dagger forward into his father's side. Skynx's fingers immediately fell loose of Kael's neck, dropping him to the floor as his hand clutched at his side, glaring intensely. His son quickly scrambled back to his feet, snatching up a small duffel bag, his mother had packed for emergencies such as this, running out the door of their home as fast as his legs could carry him. Turning around swiftly, keeled over slightly, the blood seeping from his wound, through his fingers, his father called after his son. "KAEL FARANOTH, you get back here right now, boy!"
Though Kael had no intention of going back, ever. His father could drop dead and rot in hell for all he cared at the moment. Strong thoughts for such a young child, though the things he had seen throughout his childhood made him very mature for his age. Shaking his head slightly, heaving the duffel bag over his shoulders as he walked. Remembering what his mother had told him so many months before, that if things were to get really bad, or if something were to happen to her, that he was to leave as soon as he could and make a temporary home in a small shelter hidden within the forest, until he knew it was time to find a new home. Kael never really understood what she meant by that. How would he know when it was time? What new home? So many questions, all left unanswered. He would have to find out for himself now, he would have to do everything for himself, no more depending on anyone. He was alone, completely, alone.
A small crack of sunlight poured into the small shack through it's only window, just enough light to wake Kael, as he sat up from the creaky old bed, rubbing the back of his hands against his eyes. Slowly Kael rose to his feet, looking over his new temporary home, as his mother had called it. Having been far too tired to explore much the night he had arrived, he quickly became familiar with every aspect of the home.
Later that afternoon he left the house to become familiar with the dense forest around him as well. He soon came upon a small lake behind the house, making his way past the trees and brush to get to it, he lowered himself to his knees on the water's edge. Dipping his hands under the water slowly in the shape of a cup he splashed the water up on his face, savoring the refreshing feeling. He peered down curiously at the water as it settled once more, blinking slowly as he saw his reflection in the water. His light brown hair was pressed down on his head, kind of mucky looking from the sweat, he could see his piercing, though unsure ice blue eyes dancing over the water. His face had several bruises and scratches on it from his father's beatings, though he didn't care now, that was all behind him. He never had to go back there.
He continued to explore the forest around him for a while, until he decided he was comfortable with what he knew was out there. That night he went back to the house, and had a small meal of berries and water. Plopping down on the cold floor in the center of a room, he pulled the small duffel bag he had taken over to him, having not been too sure what his mother packed. He pulled the zipper of the bag back slowly, peering inside, it appeared to be a bunch of clothes and a few small bags of food. Reaching his hands into the bag he pulled out the food and clothes, setting the food up on a table. He went through all the clothes he had, deciding he definitely needed them, as he looked down at how ragged his clothes were now.
Kael pulled out one particular piece of clothing that was rolled up, he unrolled it slowly, it appearing to be some sort of jacket or cloak to keep him warm. But what was rolled up inside the jacket was what interested him. A small silver and black cylinder lay on the cloth, two ruby jewels were set inside of it, there was a small button just above the jewels, his brows raised slightly.
He had never seen anything like it in his life, but somehow he knew what it was. It was his grandfather's lightsaber.
It had to be. He remembered his mother staying up with him late at night and telling him stories about how his grandfather was a very powerful warrior and well attuned to a thing called the Force. He smiled slightly, remembering she had also told him that, though she wasn't able to use the Force like he could, that sometimes it skips a generation, and she knew that he had it and it was very strong in him. She had said that one day he would become a mighty warrior as well.
Nodding his head contentedly, he lifted the saber hilt from the cloth slowly, his fingers wrapping instinctively around it, his right thumb resting over the activation stud. "Someday, I'm going to be a warrior and I'll kill my Dad for what he did to my Mom," he whispered quietly to himself, as he rose to his feet. Slowly he tucked all the things back into the bag, stuffing the bag under the small bed. That night he fell asleep and dreamed of becoming a Dark Jedi. . .
Six years had past now, he had spent a lot of time "playing" with his grandfather's saber out in the woods, fighting imaginary people with it. Though he had several scars on his body now from little mishaps with the saber, luckily he didn't kill himself with it. However, as he grew more mature he began to find other ways to use it, like hunting down food, chopping through brush, ah and so many other possibilities, and he had about discovered them all.
He had also found what seemed to be an academy for Dark Jedi, he had watched through the trees how some of the members would train with their sabers, much like his own. He watched people come and go for a long while, before he mustered the courage to go over. He discovered that it was the Shadow Academy he had been watching for so long, a training facility for members of the Dark Brotherhood of Dark Jedi, in which he quickly joined.
He loved every aspect of it, being around lots of people who all held the same sort of power, though some more than others. Though he enjoyed that, he preferred to be alone quite a bit of the time, while he was alone he could meditate and reflect on the past, focus his anger on certain things and really find out who he was. He began to mature quickly both mentally and physically, his long days of training and concentrating his new found powers made him feel great. Like the warrior his mother promised him he would become. He had found his new home in darkness.
Over time he had progressed in rank to a Dark Jedi Knight, with his new found powers he decided it was time to take a walk. Kael clipped his new saber, which he had built himself to his belt and headed out into the forest. As he was nearing an old stone house where he discovered his father had been living, he noticed a small lake nearby, like the one he had looked in as a boy. He smiled slightly, making his way over to the lake and kneeling down beside it, peering into the water, as his reflection peered back at him. He had grown so much over time, his hair was not nearly as messy as it had been as a boy, now it was nice and slicked back, his piercing dark blue eyes, now completely sure of who he was, where he was going, and what he had to do. A dark grin crept over his lips as he moved back away from the lake and headed back for his father's home.
Soon after he arrived at the door step, pushing the door open forcefully. His cool eyes met Skynx's quickly as he stood just in front of the door, both of their eyes narrowed. Kael snarled at his father "Hello . . . dad," he sneered. Skynx raised a brow slightly as he realized who Kael was, and stepped outside the home, raising a hand up quickly to backhand him, only to be caught by Kael's hand n' twisted around behind is back, jerking up hard, breaking his arm quickly. Shoving him back around he grabbed his dad by the throat and lifted him off the ground, partially using his own strength, partially calling on the power of the dark side, as he slammed him hard against the stone wall of the house. "How do you like that?! Hm?! Seem familiar?" he growled low in his throat, throwing his dad back to the ground. Skynx was the one trembling now, having no idea how his son got to be this powerful, he crawled backwards on his elbows lightly, though found it difficult with a broken arm and fell to the ground.
Kael sneered down at his father, as he unclipped his saber from his belt, the snap-hiss of the deep crimson blade sounding only a mere second before the humming blade was pressed inches away from his father's neck. Sweat beading on the forehead of Skynx, showed how frightened he was, his usually blazing eyes had dulled, it was he who was on the receiving end of the blazing inferno this time, gazing up into his son's eyes he knew it to be true. Skynx also realized how much he deserved this, though it was too late now, the blade of Kael's saber quickly jabbed through his neck, killing him instantly.
He smiled coldly as he watched his father draw his last breath. "Old fool, should have gave him a slow death, though he's not worth my time," he growled low in his throat. Kael knew now that this was it, there was no turning back now, no turning away from the Dark, he knew it with all he was, and he loved it . . . :)
